1. Who we are and how these terms apply
Founder Battle is the trading name used for the product discovery and competition service available at founderbattle.com (the Service). In these terms, “Founder Battle”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Service.
These terms form a contract between you and us when you create or access an account, submit or manage a product, start a battle, buy a paid service, or otherwise use an interactive part of the Service. If you only browse the Service, the provisions relevant to browsing still apply. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data, and our ranking rules form part of these terms.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this contract. If you use the Service for a company or another organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it; “you” then includes that organisation.
2. The Service
Founder Battle lets authorised users publish product listings, take part in public head-to-head battles and manage related reports. Visitors can browse, follow outbound links and vote. Categories are browsing views of the same global leaderboard and do not create separate rankings.
Rankings and official results are produced only from eligible neutral Arena Votes under the published rules. Votes arriving through founder-attributed share links are legitimate Support Votes, shown separately and never used for rank, minimum participation or tie-breaking. A ranking is comparative and may change. It is not an endorsement, award, investment recommendation or guarantee of product quality, legality, performance or commercial success. There are no cash prizes and voting is not gambling.
3. Accounts and sign-in links
Accounts use email sign-in links instead of passwords. You must provide an email address you control, keep access to that mailbox secure and not share a sign-in link. Links expire after 15 minutes and are single-use. You are responsible for activity carried out through your authenticated session unless it results from our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
Tell us promptly at hello@founderbattle.com if you believe somebody has accessed your account without permission.
4. Product submissions and your content
When you submit or edit a product, you confirm that:
- you own the product or have the owner’s permission to list and manage it;
- the listing, website, name, branding, images, handle and claims are accurate and lawful;
- your content does not infringe intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- the destination is a legitimate, publicly accessible product website; and
- you will keep material listing information reasonably up to date.
You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, adapt for layout, display and distribute that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure and promote the Service and its public listings. This licence ends when the content is removed, except for cached or backed-up copies kept for a limited period and material we must retain by law or to preserve a fair historical battle record.
We may extract public metadata from the submitted website and suggest edited copy, including with automated tools. You review and control the listing before submission. You remain responsible for the final content you publish.
5. Battles, votes and fair play
Eligible challenges are free. The current battle duration, eligible opponents, movement, minimum-vote, tie, extension and cooldown rules appear on the How ranking works page. The version displayed when a battle starts applies to that battle unless an urgent change is required to correct an error, prevent abuse or comply with law.
You must not:
- vote more than once in a battle or evade technical voting limits;
- use bots, scripts, click farms, purchased votes, deceptive incentives or coordinated manipulation;
- attack, overload, scrape at a harmful rate, reverse engineer or bypass security measures;
- impersonate another person, claim a product without authority or submit false information;
- introduce malware or use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent or abusive activity; or
- interfere with another product, battle, sponsor or user.
We may disregard invalid votes, cancel or correct a battle, adjust a result affected by a technical error, suspend access, or remove a product where reasonably necessary to enforce these rules. We will consider the available evidence and act proportionately. You may ask us to review a decision by emailing us.
Earned founder perks
A product owner can display the product-specific Founder Battle badge on their own public website and ask us to verify the page. We check the badge again when a credit is used. Each product can earn one free Battle Boost credit, usable on a live battle involving that product. It features both sides equally and does not change battle or ranking rules.
A founder may request one community-earned editorial review after substantial written feedback to five different founders has been acknowledged by those founders in the Community feedback channel. Requests are reviewed by the editorial team; up to two are accepted per month. Reviews are candid and may describe limitations. A request does not guarantee a favourable review or immediate publication. We may decline manipulated, abusive or unsuitable requests.
6. Optional paid services
Paid services are one-off purchases, not subscriptions. The description, total price, currency, duration and expected start time shown before checkout form part of your order. Stripe processes payment details; we do not receive or store your full card number.
Battle Boost
A Battle Boost gives both products in one battle equal, clearly identified featured placement for 24 hours from payment confirmation and provides performance statistics. Voting remains open for that period unless the purchasing founder chooses to end it six hours or more after the battle started. The result stays featured for the rest of the paid period. A boost never buys or changes votes, eligibility, cooldowns, the result or rank. If the battle cannot validly start before the boost begins, we will cancel the boost and issue a refund.
Arena sponsorship
A sponsorship provides clearly labelled placement for the website, duration and dates shown at checkout, subject to the content standards in these terms. Upcoming bookings that the dashboard marks as cancellable may be cancelled there for a refund. Once delivery has started, refunds are not normally available for exposure already supplied, but this does not limit any statutory right or remedy you may have if the service is not supplied as agreed or with reasonable care and skill.
Consumer cancellation rights
If you buy as a consumer, mandatory cancellation and other consumer rights continue to apply. Where you ask us to begin a paid service during a statutory cancellation period, you may have to pay for the proportion supplied before cancellation if the law permits and the required request and information were provided. You do not lose a statutory cancellation right merely because these terms say a service is non-refundable. Contact us to exercise a right or request a remedy.
7. Moderation, suspension and closure
We may reject, hide or remove content, restrict voting, or suspend an account when we reasonably believe it breaches these terms, creates legal or security risk, or undermines leaderboard integrity. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to contact us for review. We may act immediately where delay could cause harm.
You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to close your account. Account closure does not automatically erase public battle history, payment records or other information we are entitled or required to retain. See the Privacy Policy for details.
8. Intellectual property
Except for user content and third-party names or marks, the Service—including its software, design, text, graphics and branding—is owned by or licensed to us. These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. No other rights are transferred.
9. Third-party websites and services
Listings and adverts link to third-party websites. We do not control them and are not a party to transactions you enter into with them. Check their terms, privacy information and claims before relying on them. Stripe, email delivery providers and other suppliers may apply their own terms to the parts of their services you use directly.
10. Availability and changes to the Service
We use reasonable care and skill in providing the Service, but uninterrupted or error-free availability cannot be guaranteed. We may maintain, improve, replace or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice of a material adverse change where practical, especially for a paid service already ordered, and will provide an appropriate remedy if we cannot supply that paid service as agreed.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory consumer rights.
If you are a consumer, we are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses arising from consumer use, or for loss caused by your breach, a third-party website, or events outside our reasonable control.
If you use the Service wholly for business purposes, neither party is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings. Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our total liability arising from a paid service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for that service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or £100. This cap does not apply where it would be unreasonable or unlawful.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for legal, security, operational or service changes. We will post the new version and update the date above. Material changes apply prospectively and, where reasonable, we will give account holders advance notice. Changes will not reduce rights in a paid service already ordered unless required by law or agreed with you.
13. Law and disputes
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections under the law of the country where you live and may bring proceedings in any court available to you under applicable law. If you use the Service wholly for business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
14. General
If a court finds part of these terms unlawful, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your contract without our written agreement; we may transfer it as part of a genuine business reorganisation or sale if that does not reduce your rights. No person other than you and us has a right to enforce these terms.
15. Contact
Questions, complaints, cancellation notices and legal notices can be sent to hello@founderbattle.com. Please include enough information for us to identify the account, order or battle concerned.
